Richard is a world-renowned Information Theory expert. Prior to founding iOne in 2016, he worked as a Senior Data Scientist with FINRA where he regulates various market participants across US exchanges and dark pools. He also worked at Bank of America and AMEX as a quantitative analyst.
Prior to joining the financial industry in 2010, Dr. Fan held a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University where he led several research projects on signal processing and information theory. Many principles from these fields have been applied to the iOne Investment System. Dr. Fan's supervisor in Princeton was Professor H. Vincent Poor, a renowned scholar in information theory. Professor Poor holds multiple distinguished positions: Michael Henry Strater University Professor at Princeton University; Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science; Member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences; Member of the National Academy of Engineering; Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Richard received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of Edinburgh and his BS from Shanghai Jiaotong University.
