Southern securities doubled their holdings of Nvidia (07788), which rose more than 3%, rising to 3.57% by the time of publication, closing at HKD 176.85, with a turnover of HKD 408.24 million. On the news front, Nvidia had previously announced a long-term commercial and technical partnership with Corning. On Wednesday, in U.S. Eastern Time, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang praised the new partnership with Corning, calling it an important opportunity for rebuilding the technology supply chain in the United States. Huang said that the next generation of artificial intelligence infrastructure will require a large amount of optical connections, as computing demand is growing rapidly to the point that copper wires can no longer meet the demand. According to Nomura's analysis, since 2026, Corning has signed long-term agreements with Meta Platforms (valued at up to $6 billion in January), two unnamed large-scale cloud service providers (April 28), and Nvidia (May 6), covering all product categories such as optical fiber, optical cables, and optical connection solutions. The intensification of the rhythm of long-term contract signings is becoming a structural feature of the optical product supply chain in the wave of AI infrastructure investments, providing stronger visibility for the long-term revenue of related companies.
