Recently, Morgan Asset Management announced the launch of the Morgan Asia Equities High Dividend Fund. Ivy Wu, CEO of Morgan Asset Management Hong Kong and Director of Hong Kong Funds and Institutional Business, stated that the fund mainly invests in Asian (excluding Japan) equities. In addition to seeking equity returns, the fund also aims to generate additional income through covered option strategies, with a confident distribution rate of 7 to 9% and monthly distributions. However, it is emphasized that the distribution rate is not guaranteed and depends on market volatility, with a management fee of 1.5% and no cutoff subscription period.
Portfolio Manager Shi Ning Ho of the Morgan Asia Equities High Dividend Fund expressed belief in the growth opportunities in Asian stock markets and the income investment opportunities they offer. In Asia, there are many companies that distribute dividends of 4% or more, and historically, high dividend-paying Asian stocks have shown potential for growth after the end of a Federal Reserve rate-hike cycle, often outperforming global stock markets. He is confident in identifying attractive valuation and strong growth potential stocks within the region.
He further mentioned that executing covered option strategies in the Asian market can contribute to higher returns as implied volatility increases, providing an opportunity for higher option premiums. By combining Asian equity income portfolios with covered option strategies, Morgan Asset Management can offer consistent returns while preserving opportunities for long-term capital appreciation and reducing portfolio volatility.
